FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions

OffGrid is a private secure messaging app that does not store any messages, ensuring your communications are untraceable, leaving no digital footprint.

A username and password. That's it.

We do not store any of your messages, either on our servers or on your device. The moment you exit a chat window, the messages disappear. In OffGrid, only real-time chat is possible between online users.

The only data we store is your username (which can be anything you want it to be) and password.

There are no account IDs, QR codes, account recovery or backup methods, phone calls or video calls. There is no access to your mic, camera, location, or contacts.

Put simply – other apps encrypt your data making it difficult to trace. OffGrid does not store any data to begin with, making it impossible to trace.

We also have a Killswitch that instantly deletes your entire profile, closes the app, and removes your username and password from our servers without a trace.

Well, lets put that to the test! Consider the following...

  • 1. Can you send messages to an offline user?
In order for your message to be seen by a user who was offline at the time you sent it, the message has to be stored somewhere.

  • 2. Can you see your message history with a contact after exiting and rentering the chat, or after quitting and reopening the app?
If the answer is yes, then your messages are being stored somewhere.

Your username and password. That's it. No personal data or in app activity (including messages between users) is ever collected, tracked, or stored.
